Cinephiles Wanted
A cinephile is someone who has a passionate interest in and love for cinema. The term comes from the combination of "cine" (relating to movies) and "phile" (lover of).
A cinephile's interest goes beyond casual movie-watching - they approach film as an art form and often have deep knowledge of directors, film movements, and the evolution of cinema. While similar to the term "movie buff," cinephile typically implies a more serious, analytical approach to film appreciation.
Cinephiles typically:
1) Have extensive knowledge of films across different genres, eras, and cultures
2) Pay close attention to technical aspects of filmmaking like cinematography, editing, and sound design
3) Actively seek out and appreciate both mainstream and arthouse films
4) Enjoy analyzing and discussing films in depth, often considering their artistic merit, cultural impact, and deeper meanings

Homework
As an Associate Professor of Professional Practice in the department of Cinematic Arts at the School of Communication, University of Miami, I have found teaching to be more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. Outside of filmmaking, it offers me the opportunity to share what’s happening within our industry on regular basis and I get to learn so much from my students. They teach me about what they are consuming, what inspires them and what they are creating. Alongside my film projects, I get to spend my days researching the entertainment industry, its changing business practices and the global content economy. After synthesizing that information I share my insights with my students in the classroom and teach them how to do their own analysis.
My goal is to help my students find a place for their own voices in this ecosystem. Coupling this research with my practice and business background helps me exemplify the symbiotic relationship between art and commerce.
